This low-unit Certificate of Achievement is designed to assist students in obtaining responsible entry-level administrative positions in medical offices. The ultimate goal of these certificates is to develop competency in communication, critical thinking, and medical terminology comprehension and application, the mechanics of medical coding/billing procedures, hands-on experience of electronic health/medical records, and safe,ethical, legal, and compassionate patient care.

The Lake Tahoe Community College Medical Office Assisting Part 1 Foundational Skills Certificate, a low-unit Certificate of Achievement, will be awarded upon completion of 13.5units in the four-course sequence. The certificate can be completed in one academic year (over three academic quarters).
