The Basic EMS and Fire Training Certificate of Achievement provides the student with a basic understanding of the emergency medical and fire services careers. Coursework includes emergency medical technician instruction and an introduction to the basic fire academy.
We anticipate 15-20 students per year to complete this certificate.
These courses provide the student with training to become an Emergency Medical Technician and prepare them for entry into Fire Academy training to become a Fire Fighter.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:
Course | Title | Units | Year/Semester (Y1 or S1) |
---|---|---|---|
EMMS 170A | Emergency Medical Technician I: Basic Training | 7 | S1 |
EMMS 170B | Emergency Medical Technician 1: Basic Trainig Application | 2 | S1 |
FPTC 101 | Introduction to Basic Firefighter Academy 1 | 3 | S1 |
Students must take EMMS 170A and 170B concurrently. It is recommended students also take FPTC 101 in the same semester as preparation for entry into the Basic Fire Academy. However, FPTC 101 can be taken in a different semester.
