The Certificate of Achievement, Emergency Response: Emphasis in EMS & Fire Science program is designed to provide the course work and training for the Emergency Medical Technician licensure exam, and further prepare students for entry into firefighting, emergency medical services and paramedical services.
College of Marin has offered these courses for many years but has not offered a Certificate of Achievement. Based on our history of offering these classes, we expect enrollments and completions to be 45 - 60 students/year.
This certificate will prepare students for Emergency Medical Technician license, and entry into several occupations which require emergency medical training. Students will be able to:
Providing students with a certificate of achievement gives a demonstrated ability to highlight their achievements in the fire technology coursework, related to their career or other educational endeavors.
The required courses prepare students for an employable licensure (EMT), satisfies all required coursework for the nearby community college fire academies.
