The Education and Human Development program is designed to meet the needs of people planning for a career working with children from birth through school-age. Students earning the Youth and After School Certificate will focus on school age children in diverse settings including, but not limited to, recreation and health and academic enrichment. The program emphasizes current research and practical application involving issues related to youth learning and development.
We expect the following students to complete the certificate over the next 3 years:
Year 1: 5 students
Year 2: 12 students
Year 3: 20 students

Career Opportunities:
Individuals taking this certificate will learn knowledge and skills to support their work in out of school or after school programs, youth coaching and athletic settings as well as academic enrichment support. The certificate also provides a foundation for individuals interested in working as a credentialed teacher (with further post-BA coursework).
