The Certificate of Achievement in Cybersecurity and Networking Support at Los Angeles Valley College prepares the students for a career in cybersecurity and network. The program offers hands-on experience that equips you with the essential knowledge and skills to: Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer networks, secure networks and systems from cyberattacks, Identify and respond to security incidents, comply with relevant cybersecurity regulations, and lean the best practices.
Students who complete the certificate program will work as cybersecurity and network support technicians with knowledge and skills to protect an organization’s computer networks as well as its data and information. The program covers cybersecurity concepts and topics, including security principles, network security and endpoint security concepts, vulnerability assessment and risk management, and incident handling. Students who successfully complete the program will be prepared to take the Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Cybersecurity certification exam.
We project the program will have a minimum of 20 completers who will earn the certificate.
The goals and objectives of the Certificate of Achievement in Cybersecurity and Networking Support at Los Angeles Valley College is to prepare students for a support technician job in the field of cybersecurity and network , equipping them with the knowledge and skills to protect computer networks and systems from cyberthreats. Students will acquire technical skills and will have the knowledge to help the information security team in securing the organizational data, information, and computer networks. Technical skills acquired include: Configuring and managing security devices including firewalls, VPNs, and other intrusion prevention systems, Implementing network access control (NAC) solutions, monitoring and analyzing network security events, securing routers and switches, and understanding and troubleshooting common security vulnerabilities in Cisco networks. Students will acquire knowledge in areas of security architecture and technologies, security products, and solutions, and the impact of on network performance.
The program requirements are to complete all six credit courses related to the goals and objectives of the Certificate of Achievement in Cybersecurity and Networking Support successfully based on the college's enrollment, attendance, and graduation requirements.
