The Reedley College Business Foundations Certificate is in agreement with the Reedley College 2015-2025 Master Plan. This Certificate, along with the Reedley College 2015-2025 Master Plan, reflects the college’s dedication to student learning and student success. The Master Plan takes into account regional data that reflect opportunities for programs to develop curriculum for students to get jobs, improve their marketability through certificates and prepare for transfer to four year institutions. Additionally, Reedley College, including its centers and sites, will be a source of exemplary educational opportunities to foster and cultivate professional, well-prepared individuals who will contribute to our community.
The Business faculty meets throughout the fall, spring and summer terms with its industry-based advisors to discuss industry needs and the enhancement of instructional programs to facilitate those needs. Discussions focus on specific skill sets desired by employers as well as current industry trends, best practices and issues with which students must be familiar upon program completion. Business instructors also maintain contact with local business owners through site visits to various businesses throughout the year and via weekly or monthly phone contact to discuss industry trends and employment opportunities.
This program provides students a foundational knowledge of business theory and practices which can be utilized in entry level employment opportunities as well as for transfer to a four-year institution.
The courses offered for this certificate are housed in the Business Department utilizing existing facilities and equipment. The current instructional, library, and student support services are adequate to meet the needs of this program.
The curriculum for this certificate is also applicable to the AS-T degree in business.
Faculty that teach in the program meet or exceed the minimum qualifications for teaching the courses.
