As an Agriculture based community many careers exist in maintenance, repair, and service requiring training in specialized fields not associated with other programs currently offered at Bakersfield College. Local dealerships, rental yards, repair shops, farms ,and corporations have expressed a strong need for employees trained to meet this specific industry need.
Offering an associates degree in mechanized agriculture would better prepare our students interested in this area or completing our heavy equipment technician certificate program to enter the workforce in an elevated entry level position or advance into a management position. Our goal is to prepare students to enter these in demand positions in local and surrounding areas.

This allows students the opportunity to earn a certificate of achievement and make immediate entry into the work place. The Associates of Science Degree in Mechanized Agriculture can then be attained by completing the required general education courses in a traditional fashion, or for students entering the workforce they have the opportunity to finish their degree online or through night courses.
