The Orthodontic Assistant Certificate of Achievement is an entry level workforce preparation program that prepares students for employment as an Orthodontic Assistant. The courses are an alternative pathway in dental assisting program that meets the next level requirements for a level II Certificate of Achievement award. This certificate is stackable to the level I Certificate of Achievement in Fundamentals of Dental Assisting.
Prerequisites for entering the Orthodontic Assistant certification program is 6 months of clinical dental assisting experience, and industry certifications to practice dental assisting, including: An 8-Hour Infection Control Course, 2. California Dental Practice Act, 3.CPR (AHA or Red Cross AGD-PACE/ADA-CERP), 4. 32 hr. Radiation Safety (Dental Board of California requirements).

The Orthodontic Assistant program is a stackable CTE award to the level 1 Fundamentals of Dental Assisting Certificate of Achievement, is an alternative pathway to dental assisting, and prepares students for employment as a chairside orthodontic assistant to support the orthodontist.
