The Certificate of Achievement in Essential in Robotics and programming provides students with a high quality education that prepares themfor professional career in Programming in Robotics. The curriculum prepares students for engineering, mechatronics, and software development as they design, construct, and programan autonomous robot.
Students whosuccessfully complete the sequence of courses in the Certificate of Achievementin the Essential of Robotics and programming will demonstrate the followingProgram Learning Outcomes:
1- Understand about electric motors, servos, sensors, switches, and actuators. Desgin and develop Basic Stamp computerprogramming and integration into a working robotic unit; including mechanicalassembly, connecting electronic components, wiring and soldering, and testing.
2- Use and learn topics of the Python languagesuch as data types, variables, control structures, Python Objects and OrientedDesign, standard and advanced mathematical libraries, tool-chain use and PythonFrameworks, user-defined classes and abstract collections, single andmultidimensional arrays, Python lists, tuples, collections, and dictionaries.
3- Gain new skills in programming andelectronics engineering using Arduino. The Arduino board can read sensors, control motors and lights, and upload your hand-built code that interacts withthe real world. Learn the Arduino programming language, which is based onC/C++.
4- Learn about the major engineering disciplines, engineeringdecision-making and ethics, and factors for success in academic andprofessional settings.
To complete the Certificate of Achievement in Essential ofRobotics and programming, students must complete all of the program courserequirements. It is recommended that students consult with the CounselingOffice to develop a Comprehensive Student Educational Plan.

Robots are used in the auto, medical, and manufacturing industries,in all manner of exploration vehicles, and, of course, in many science fictionfilms. West LosAngeles College’s Certificate of Achievement in Essential of Robotics andprogramming is open to all majors and to non- degree students. The program isdesigned to instruct students on the design, construction and programming ofrobotic and automated systems. Obtaining a certificate in Essential ofRobotics and programming prepares students for work in robotics and exposesthem to several facets of the field. Theprogram allows for a focus on the hardware and modeling or the algorithms, allof which are the integral components of robotics.
Building and programming a robot is a combination ofmechanics, electronics, and problem solving. What student will learn whiledoing the activities and projects will be relevant to real-world applicationsthat use robotic control, the only differences being the size andsophistication. The mechanical principles, example program listings, andcircuits students will use are very similar to, and sometimes the same as,industrial applications developed by engineers.
The goal is to get students interested in and excitedabout the fields of engineering, mechatronics, and software development as theydesign, construct, and program an autonomous robot. With the rise of digital and smart technology, theaccelarting demand for industrial demand for industrial robots will continue. As a result, certified Essential in Roboticsand programming are on the forefront of these growing opportunities to engagein flexible and versatile technology-rich fields.
