The Certificate in Environmental Engineering Technologyprepares the students to work in an environmental industry with environmentalengineers in order to assess environmental pollution problems, to determine andinstitute pollution prevention methods and remediation strategies.
Students will learn relevant scientific and engineering concepts and gainpractical knowledge in identifying, designing, and assessing solutions toenvironmental pollution problems. Studentswill also learn the proper maintenance of technical documents to ensurecompliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
Prerequisites:
MATH M01 or MATH M01B (elementary algebra)
Student Learning Outcomes:
1) Work in an environmental industry and assist theenvironmental engineer with compliance of local, state, and federal regulations
2) Work in an environmental industry and assist theenvironmental engineer with identification, assessment, and clean-up ofenvironmental pollution including air, water, and soil pollution.
3) Demonstrate an understanding of our environmentalpollution problems and the application of relevant scientific and engineeringprinciples in addressing those problems.

The Environmental Engineering Technology Certificate Program will satisfy the VC Innovates mandate aimed at creating a practical and productive career pathway for the students in our community (See Attachments 1 and 2). This certificate program could also serve the adult members of our community who might be seeking a career change or those who are already working in the environmental industry but would benefit from obtaining a more formal education in the field.
