This is a new and innovative apprenticeship program that trains employees how to maintain large industrial equipment. Bakersfield College is collaborating with the Wonderful Company to train incumbent workers in the art of machine maintenance. The Wonderful Company has committed to train 100 employees throughout the state, and especially local Kern County, in this program.
The program anticipates approximately 30 completions annually.
To offer students an opportunity to pursue a career as a maintenance technician at one of several distribution centers in the Industrial Park in Shafter, California. Students will also receive an apprenticeship certification with the United States Department of Labor (DOL) and the California Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS).
Students will be required to be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
