The Firefighter Company Officer certificate of achievement provides the fire officer with course work needed to be successful in his or her position. Information includes the management of personnel, all-risk command operations for the company officer, and the use of the incident command system.
Currently there are 25 students progressing through this program. It is estimated that 15-20 certificates will be earned each year.
As with many other professions, the aging of the workforce will be heavily impacting the Captain (company officer) ranks in the California Fire Service over the next 5-6 years. The company officer certificate of achievement provides the fire officer with California State Fire Marshall approved course work needed to be successful in his or her position. Information includes the management of personnel, all-risk command operations for the company officer, and the use of the incident command system. This curriculum leads to the California State Fire Marshall Company Officer Certification.
